The Characteristics of Paranoid Psychoses Beginning after Age of 45 (¥²)

Abstract
Some clinical characteristics of 28 late-onset atypical psychotic patients were compaired with 17 schizophrenics.
There were some similarities between the two groups in terms of sex ratio, clinical sym tom characteristics, length of stay in hospital, response to treatment and marital status.
In contrast, age at onset and on admission, duration of illness, frequency of admission and ada tive functioning were different between two groups. These differences, however, may be explained b different age at the first breakdown of each psychotic group.
These results suggest that the late-onset atypical psychosis may be a subtype of schizophrenic diso der.
